Not having a vehicle or one that needs to be kept in a garage puts you in a position to use the garage for something else. You may have been using your garage as an extra bedroom for several years now. When you are in the process of constructing another bedroom to enjoy a more natural fit, you can start using the garage to store your vehicles or to work on projects related to the bedroom addition. It also means that you will want to put the bedroom essentials into storage until you can put them in the new room.

Bed Frame

The most important part of storing the bed frame is making sure you keep all of the hardware together, if you decide to dismantle it before putting it into storage. This is a good idea if you want to get a small unit, even if you have lots of other items to put away because you can easily maneuver the individual parts. A wooden frame should be polished beforehand to seal in moisture and avoid drying out. It should also be placed into a unit with climate control to keep high humidity from causing rot and mold growth.

Mattress

Some people might think that tossing the mattress against the side of a wall is a good enough solution for storage. But, this method of storing will only lead to a premature end to the bed. It has to be flat, which is the only way for it to avoid distortion that would also lead to uncomfortable sleeping after using it again. If you have no other way to keep it flat, you should just use the bed frame in its intact form. Also, investing in a mattress bag is a smart decision so you do not have to worry about dust buildup.

Mirror

It is common for bedrooms to have full-length mirrors to help with getting ready. Mounting one behind the door leading into the garage or leaning it against a wall is easy, but storage is a different story. The most important thing that you can do is to cover the glass and the sides in cardboard. This will make it a little more durable when moving it to the storage unit and while it sits in storage.

Lamps

If you have several lamps from the nightstands, you will also want to store them safely. Breaking them down a little bit by taking out the light bulb, metal framework, and shade is essential. Lamp shades are always going to be fragile, so it is ideal when you use a separate box that will avoid the risk of puncturing. You may be able to stack shades in the same box if they are from matching lamps. Also, it is an easy process to store the lamp itself as you just want to make sure it is completely covered in bubble wrap.

Storing the bedroom basics from your garage should be easy when you follow these tips.
